But in fact, the Outer Banks is made up of a number of small towns starting north of Corolla and extending through Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, and South Nags head and then through the southern Outer Banks villages of Avon, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Frisco, Hatteras, and Ocracoke.

The truth is everywhere on the Outer Banks is special and the location you choose will depend on your personal vacation needs. There is where you find the largest variety of vacation home rentals, beach houses, hotels, motels, and other accommodations, restaurants, and attractions. The further north or south you go, the less people and crowded the beaches. But, you also lose some of the convenience of nearby dining and grocery stores.
